Practitioner
TARA SCARINGI
I’ve always had a passion for helping people better their lives. I completed my undergraduate degree in Athletic Training at SUNY Cortland in 2002 and an MS in Exercise Science in 2004. I worked with both the football and lacrosse teams. My knowledge of nutrition was slim, even after two degrees in fitness.
I completed an MS degree at Daemen College in Physician Assistant studies in 2009, graduating with high hopes of educating people on living a healthy lifestyle, avoiding chronic disease, and minimizing, or even eliminating their medications. Convincing people to choose a healthy lifestyle was no easy task. Unfortunately, most wanted the quick answer, the medicine that would make their symptoms disappear. I was not comfortable with masking symptoms, and wanted to get to the cause.
I returned to Orthopedics, as internal medicine and prescribing medications was no longer suiting me. I do continue to work in Orthopedics at Excelsior Orthopedics where I treat acute injuries, write minimal prescriptions and talk nutrition to anyone willing to listen.
I continued my health and wellness journey, became a yoga instructor, and completed two nutrition certifications through Cornell and the Wellness Forum. In December 2017, I opened Be Moved Fitness which is adjacent to Synergy. I tell people, nutrition over exercise if you have to choose between the two; Both for the best results. We have several clients who participate in both, and their results speak for themselves.
